Two paddle boarders on calm blue water

Paddle Boarding & Kayaking at Lake Perris

Where to launch, how to stay clear of boat traffic, and how to request a board or kayak.

Where to launch

Canoes and kayaks launch free at Lake Perris, per California State Parks. Ask at the entrance where paddlers should put in on the day, and whether your craft needs an inspection first.

Rules for paddlers

The lake's 5 mph zone runs from shore out to the buoys, which makes the shoreline the calmest place to paddle. Stay clear of swim areas and keep to the edges, out of the main boat traffic that travels counterclockwise.

When to go

Mornings are usually calmer before afternoon wind picks up. On summer weekends the park can close to vehicles once capacity or parking fills, so arrive early.

Rental options nearby

Request a paddle board or kayak for your date and a local provider will follow up. Prices vary by provider; call for current rates.

What to bring

  • A life jacket for every paddler
  • Water and sun protection
  • A dry bag for phone and keys
  • Shoes that can get wet
