Fishing at Lake Perris

Plan a fishing day at Lake Perris: timing, shore or boat, licenses and gear.

Planning a fishing trip

Lake Perris (Perris Reservoir) in Riverside County offers fishing from the shore and by boat. Plan around the park's boating hours and get there early: the park closes to vehicles when boat capacity or parking fills up.

From shore or by boat

You can fish from the shoreline or head out by boat. A boat lets you move around the lake, but every boat follows the lake's counterclockwise direction and speed zones, so plan your route with that in mind.

Fishing boat rental options

Request a boat for your date and group, and a local provider will follow up with what's available. Prices vary by provider; call for current rates.

Licenses

Most anglers need a valid California fishing license. Check the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for current license types, rules and any special regulations before you go.

What's biting

Catches change with the season, water temperature and stocking. For current conditions, check CDFW's resources and ask locally on the day. We don't list species or limits here so nothing goes out of date.

Gear checklist

  • Fishing license (if required)
  • Rods, tackle and bait
  • Cooler and water
  • Sun protection
  • Life jackets for everyone in the boat
